Tamarind Date Chutney

Can you imagine any chaat without this amazing sweet and tangy chutney?? The first time I made this my older one was so on to it that she put it on anything and everything.

Simple to make but sounds like a huge chore! Here is the humble chutney for Day 6 Week 4 of BM #27.

Ingredients -

Pitted Dates, soft and chopped 1 cup
Tamarind 1/4 cup
Jaggery, Powdered 1/4 cup
Salt, Red Chilli powder, Roasted Cumin Powder as needed

Tamarind Date Chutney

Method Of Preparation -

Extract the tamarind pulp adding as much water as needed.

Grind the pitted dates to a fine puree adding as much water as needed.

Dissolve jaggery in about 1/4 cup of warm water and strain it to remove any impurities.

Mix the pitted date puree, dissolved jaggery and tamarind pulp.

Boil the mixture until it thickens.

Add the salt, red chilli powder and roasted cumin powder. Adjust the flavors as needed.

Store it in an air tight container and refrigerate until needed.
