We all get bored eating chapatis the same old way, right? To take the boredom away, there are lot of options to make them different. Just by the addition of a few ingredients, the taste of chapatis can vary a lot, can't they? I tried various options so far like Avocado Chapati, Green Apple Roti, Tofu-Vegetable Paratha, and also the all time favorite Alu Paratha. There are many more variations for me to try and share too. Here is yet another trial approved by my family! I knew they would like this variation as we all are major fans of sweet potato. To disguise the sweetness of sweet potato I spiced it up a little and there was no hint of sweetness in these chapatis. I guess each variety of sweet potato has a different taste, so feel free to change the spices according to your preferences. They were very soft even for the next day.

Sweet Potato Chapati

Ingredients -

Sweet Potato peeled and cubed 1 1/2 cups
Wheat Flour 1 1/2 cups
Chat Masala 1/4 tsp
Garam Masala 1/4 tsp
Red Chilli Powder 1/4 tsp
Cumin Powder 1 tsp
Turmeric 1/8 tsp
Salt as per taste

Method Of Preparation -

Boil the sweet potato and mash it without any lumps. I boiled them in the microwave for about 5 min and they were very soft (so mashing them was a breeze!).

In a mixing bowl, add all the ingredients and knead well with very little water. (I didn't have to add any water. I just wet my hand with water towards the end of kneading). Add more flour if needed as each type of flour absorbs moisture in a different way.

Cover the dough for about 10-15 min while the rest of the stuff is arranged.

Make about 12 equal portions of the dough, roll out rotis and cook on both sides on a hot griddle/tava spraying oil as needed. Continue for the rest of the dough.

Sweet Potato Chapati

I like to store these chapatis in an insulated container and serve them warm and soft with some curry!

Sending these yummy chapatis to Suma's 'Cooking With Seeds - Wheat' .
